Updating of Ecological Profile and Participatory Mapping in Libmanan, Camarines Sur (2023)

From July to December 2023, the UP Department of Geography’s Geog 192 Field Methods class partnered with the Municipality of Libmanan, Camarines Sur to update the town’s Ecological Profile (EP). The team, composed of 23 students and 2 faculty members, assembled a comprehensive, data‑rich baseline for the municipality including data and information on population, economy, environment, infrastructure, and institution. Field activities have involved participatory mapping including training with local staff, open-data kit assisted surveys, and GIS. The Eco profile was submitted to the municipality and endorsed on 15 December 2023, which marks the successful completion of the collaboration, and a start of a new one.

Mula Hulyo hanggang Disyembre 2023, nakipag-ugnayan ang Geog 192 Field Methods class ng UP Department of Geography sa Pamahalaang Bayan ng Libmanan, Camarines Sur para sa updating ng Ecological Profile (EP). Binubuo ang grupo mula sa UP Department of Geography ng 23 mag-aaral at 2 guro. kasama ang mga technical staff mula sa munisipyo, binuo ang komprehensibo at detalyadong baseline data para sa munisipalidad. Kasama dito ang datos at impormasyon sa populasyon, ekonomiya, likas yaman, imprastraktura, at mga institusyon. Kabilang sa mga aktibidad sa field (field methods) ang participatory mapping na may kasamang pagsasanay para sa mga lokal na kawani, mga sarbey gamit ang open-data kit (KoboCollect), at GIS. Naipasa at inendorso ang updated Eco Profile sa pamahalaang bayan noong 15 Disyembre 2023, na nagsilbing hudyat ng matagumpay na pagtatapos ng kolaborasyon, at ganuon din ng panibagong simula.
