The Department’s extension program turns geographic teaching and research into public service that matters for partner communities, institutions and municipalities/ cities. Anchored in the principle of Geography Field School and geography methods courses, students and faculty co‑produce data and information, maps, assessments, and development plans with our partners.
Our extension agenda:
- Course‑Based / Service-Learning – Short term and field‑based courses embed students in projects the provide services to partners and also ensure learning for the students and faculty-in-charge.
- Engagements with Local Government Units (LGUs) and communities – Collaborations with local communities, LGUs and people’s organizations, and non-government organizations (NGOs) to conduct studies and formulate plans for local development
- Knowledge dissemination – Findings are shared through reports, atlases, trainings, and open‑access maps to help partners and other stakeholders.
